Welcome to Connecticut, The Constitution State. Connecticut houses a wide diversity of cultural institutions including the oldest free public art museum in the US: The Wadsworth Athenaeum. Connecticut is also home to many ballet and opera companies as well as many symphony orchestras. Connecticut’s historical sites commemorate Native American groups or events of the American Revolution. Fort Shantok State Park a popular tourist attraction near Norwich includes site of an old Mohegan village.

Grotton Monument in Grotton honors revolutionary war patriots killed by the British and The Nathan Hale Homestead in South Coventry exhibits furnishings of the famous American Revolutionary officers family. Mystic Seaport in Mystic features a recreation of an 19th century whaling town. Connecticut also offers many outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, auto racing, skiing and ice hockey. Connecticut’s green hills, pristine lakes and beautifully preserved old towns and villages attract many visitors each year. Connecticut has some 120 state parks and recreation areas. The most popular being Gillette Castle State Park in Haddam.
