Welcome to ILLINOIS
The Land of Lincoln

Welcome to Illinois, The Land of Lincoln. From the rolling river country, to the prairie, to the ancient towering bluffs and the canyons we invite you to let our culture and heritage surround you. We have some of the greatest museums in the world, a colonial French settlement, a ceremonial Native American mound and plenty of water to just float on. You can listen for the Great Blue Heron in the cypress swamp and relax in one of our 320 parks, conservation areas, fish and wildlife areas and historic sites.

Walk the Lincoln Heritage Trail starting in the 700-acre living history village of New Salem, it will take you through to the Old State Capitol and on to the Lincoln Tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery. If you want to have a fast paced vacation check out Chicago. Whether your imagination is captured by the arts and elegance of the African-American community in South Shore, the mansions of Astor Street along the Gold Coast, the exotic mosaic of Old Town or the history and culture of Hyde Park, you’ll find plenty to do in Chicago. Come visit Illinois and let us take you a million miles from Monday.

We thank you for choosing Illinois Travel Guide to plan your next vacation, and hope that your time spent in Illinois is both enjoyable and refreshing.
